My name is Yvonne Karina. I am a medical student at Moi university, Kenya. I was privileged to be selected for an exchange programme in Germany which included a six week stay inclusive of a four week clinical rotation at Kinderatz Practice & Charite hospital and a one week Summer School.

For the Famulator I went to Witten, which compared to other cities of Germany, it was labeled a small city, but after the 4 weeks that I got to spend in it, now has an immense value for me. There, I was hosted by Frauke, who helped me navigate this experience as best as she could and was there to help me with anything that I needed. I not only found an exceptional colleague in her, but also a great friend.

I had the great pleasure to be part in the 2023 p&e Clinical Internship and Global Health Summer School organized by the Institute for Social Medicine, Epidemiology and Health Economics, Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin and IPPNW Germany. My experience began in Belgrade when I had the chance to help organize the German exchange student Annett's stay in Belgrade. Thanks to a great organizing team and everyone involved on all sides this was the perfect introduction to what was going to follow.
